Church Action on Poverty
Tackling Poverty Awards.
Church Action on Poverty and our partner Community Links are pleased to announce the launch of the Tackling Poverty awards. Projects tackling UK poverty will have the chance to win a video camera and tell their stories. Their work will be celebrated in national publications and events.
The Tackling Poverty Awards will identify and celebrate projects that are providing meaningful and effective support to people of working age living in poverty in the UK. Projects doing relevant work – which will include many churches and Christian groups – are invited to submit their applications by 27 August. The application form can be downloaded at http://bit.ly/tacklingpovertyawards, or requested from Church Action on Poverty on 0161 236 9321.
Four projects will be shortlisted. They will each win a digital video camera and the chance to make a film about their work. The films will be judged, and a winner will be announced at a presentation event in London in November.
The Tackling Poverty awards are part of a national programme on working-age poverty, being delivered jointly by Church Action on Poverty and Community Links as part of the European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion.
